Simi UMC presents the story of John Wesley

Roger Nelson
Actor Roger Nelson will present "The Man from Aldersgate," an award-winning dramatic portrayal of the life of preacher John Wesley, at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 4 at the United Methodist Church of Simi Valley, 2394 Erringer Road.

Wesley, an English preacher and Anglican priest, rode more than 250,000 miles to bring spiritual renewal to England and America, and began the movement that became Methodism. In this play, Wesley tells of how, at the age of 33, he felt like his life was a dismal failure until a spiritual experience helped him overcome his doubts and uncertainties.

The play, adapted from the journals of John Wesley by playwright Brad L. Smith, won an Angel award at the Religion In Media awards. Nelson, an Equity member, has appeared in off-Broadway and summer stock productions, films and national television commercials. He's given more than 1,300 performances of "The Man from Aldersgate."

The public is invited to this free performance. For more information, call (805) 526-6231.
