Aaron L. Friedman, 14, of Boy Scout Troop 687 was awarded the rank of Eagle Scout at a recent Court of Honor at St. Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church in Simi Valley.
Friedman began scouting at 6 years old as a Tiger Cub. He continued through Cub Scouts with Den 3 Pack 3609 at Wood Ranch Elementary School.
He earned the Cub Scouting highest honor, the Arrow of Light, and bridged over into Simi Valley Boy Scout Troop 687 in 2004. He has earned 34 Boy Scout merit badges.
For his Eagle Project, Friedman built a small rest area on a trail near Lake Casitas.
He raised funds to purchase a commercial park bench and solicited donations of other materials from local Do-it Center stores. A total of 150 hours were invested in this project.
The park bench was installed in June with the help of a crew of 12. The rest area will benefit both hikers and bikers that use the trail. Friedman received a Resolution of Thanks from the Casitas Municipal Water District for the park bench he installed.
