Donations to be collected to help families of shooting victims

Simi Valley Youth Soccer League is taking donations from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26 and Nov. 3 at Hillside Middle School, 2222 E. Fitzgerald Road, Simi Valley.

The donation is being collected for the families affected by the recent shooting at Tire Pros.

Tire Pros has been a supporter of Simi Valley Youth Soccer. "This is the least we could do for those affected by the recent tragedy," Dave Newman, vice president of the league, said. Tire Pros recently offered free soccer balls to league participants and also donates a percentage of its tire sales.

Simi Valley Youth Soccer has operated in Simi Valley for more than 30 and has more than 1,200 participants year-round.
