Better traffic enforcement is badly needed in 'The Bluffs'

In light of the most recent traffic accident in The Bluffs development this past Saturday, Oct. 20, I am curious about a few things.

When will the Simi Valley PD begin to actively patrol and enforce the speed limit on Erringer Road coming into and out of the development?

What will it finally take for them to act in a decisive fashion to control speeds on this road?

This past Saturday's incident in which a Hummer demolished a huge swath of fencing, multiple trees and grass, a traffic sign and a fire hydrant illustrates the need for something to be done by the authorities to thwart and possibly avoid a tragic incident.

The destructive results of the accident were the most severe to date in what has been a common occurrence in this development over the past year.

Thankfully, what is usually a busy sidewalk on the weekends with people walking, pushing strollers and exercising, as well as kids riding bikes, was deserted at the time of the incident. But, what if somebody was on the sidewalk - what would have been the result then?

And what would have happened had there been another vehicle on the road at the same time who was affected by the Hummer? The results could have been deadly.

It is time for the Simi Valley PD to take a stand on Erringer and Lost Canyons roads and begin to crack down on those who feel this road is more akin to the California Speedway than a residential thoroughfare, before something very serious occurs and the loss is more than a few trees and some fencing.
