Stop assuming the worst about kids

The one thing in Deborah Bassham Bucci's letter of Oct 19 that I do agree with is that there is a serious situation in Simi Valley.

The problem is that we have people like her that want us to lock our children in our homes so she does not have to see them.

How dare you make the assumption that our children and teens are all drug users.

It is obvious that you do not have children, because if you did, you would realize that there is very little for them to do within our community and this is a welcome and much-needed addition.

Stop assuming the worst-case scenario; it's not healthy for our community.

Do you realize, as a citizen of this community, what you are teaching our youth by trying to stop this project?

You are telling them that it's bad to be young. You are saying it's wrong to want to have fun. You are telling them that this community does not care about them until they are adults.

Thank you to Rancho Simi Recreation and Park District for proposing this facility and for all of the other additions to our community. I also commend the Acorn for the editor's note regarding Ms. Bucci's letter, correcting her inflated numbers and her false comments about the BMX track.

Admit it Ms. Bucci: You and everyone that is opposed to this park are only concerned about one thing. It's not the children, traffic, drugs or the money spent by RSRPD; it's about one thing and one thing only- the concern that your property value may go down. John Russo Simi Valley
