Young artists get chance to shine

The Sunrise Rotary Club of Simi Valley will present its firstever Sunrise Youth Art & Music Festival from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 27 and 28 at the Simi Valley Town Center.

The event, which will highlight the works of young musicians and artists in the community, includes raffles, art competition, student art show and performances by high school bands and choirs, as well as musical theater and dance students.

The festival benefits Simi Valley high schools.

The art show includes the Pizza Box Art contest. Students received pizza boxes from California Pizza Kitchen to decorate as they wish. These boxes will be on display for the community to vote for the people's choice award throughout the weekend.

California Pizza Kitchen in the mall will also donate 20 percent of all purchases made from Oct. 22 through 26. Sponsorship opportunities are available for the event.
