Irked at Gallegly over vote against increasing health insurance for kids

I would like the citizens of Simi Valley to know that their congressman, Elton Gallegly, voted against the recent bill that would have increased funding that gives babies and young children of the working poor health coverage.

He voted against this bill even though he himself has health insurance funded partly by you and me, the taxpayers.

The cost of this vital coverage for our poor children is a tiny, tiny fraction of the amount we're spending on the senseless war in Iraq, which Mr. Gallegly has had no trouble spending our tax dollars on.

He also has no trouble voting for pay raises for himself. I think it's a disgrace that our congressman is so out of touch and so entrenched in Washington that he's blind to the realities back here at home.

Turning his back on babies and young children of the poor is a new low for Gallegly, who has been in Washington for 20 years and, according to his own biography on his website, has almost nothing to show for it. Thomas M. Boland Simi Valley
