Cowboy music concert pays tribute to the West
Performance will feature singers, humorists and poets

The Western Music Association California Chapter will host a concert of cowboy music at 2 p.m. Sunday Oct. 21 at Rancho Cordillera del Norte, 9015 Wilbur Ave., Northridge.

Performers include cowboy Michael Tcherkassky; Dave Stamey, cowboy entertainer; and Trails and Rails, a western group from San Diego and winner of the WMA Harmony Award at the 2005 WMA Festival.

Master of ceremonies for the event is Les Buffham, cowboy poet and humorist.

Stamey is a real cowboy who lives in Nipomo, Calif.

He was named Male Performer of the Year in 2006 by the Western Music Association and has been a threetime nominee for Songwriter of the Year.

The Western Music Association is a nonprofit organization whose purpose is to "preserve and advance the history, literature and performance of that music unique to the American West."

Tickets are $20 for WMA members and their guests, $25 for nonmembers and $10 for children under 12 years of age.
