Hearing delayed in Torres' trial on 2 murder counts

The preliminary hearing for Simi Valley resident Daniel Ramirez, who is charged with two counts of first-degree murder, has been postponed until Monday, Nov. 5 at 9 a.m. at the Ventura County Courthouse.

Ramirez, 22, is charged with the shooting deaths of 18-year-old Luis Torres on Jan. 26, 2007 and 30year-old Angel Luevano on Dec. 5, 2003. Both victims were Simi Valley residents.

Ramirez was arrested by Simi police during a traffic stop on the 118 Freeway on March 17.

Chatsworth resident Luis Casillas, 32, is also being held in connection with the Luevano murder and is scheduled to appear in court with Ramirez on Nov. 5.

Ramirez and Casillas are accused of committing the crimes for the benefit of a street gang.
