Concert, BBQ fundraiser will benefit upcoming Relay for Life at Royal High

The Relay for Life team Desert Breeze will present "Survivors' Rockfest" from noon to 7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 30 at Guitar Merchant and Verity Room, 7053 Topanga Canyon Blvd., Canoga Park.

The event will feature music, barbecue and vendors. Country, blues and rock bands will perform.

"Survivors' Rockfest" is a fundraiser for Relay for Life, which will be Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 6 and 7 at Royal High School.

All proceeds will be donated to the American Cancer Society.

The Desert Breeze team comprises about 25 people, many of whom are cancer survivors, including Donna Baxter.

"When I received my stem cell transplant at the City of Hope," Baxter said, "from which I am now celebrating three years of total remission, I decided that I would continue to do as much as possible to help in the fight for a cure."

Baxter and her teammates have set a goal of raising $10,000 and are holding several fundraisers, including Sunday's rock fest.

Admission is a $10 donation at the door; children under 13 will be admitted free.

For more information, call Justin Arman at (805) 8895761 or email JustinArman@gmail.com or e-mail Donna Baxter at tdesertbreeze1@sbcglobal.net.
