Church should stand its ground

Congratulations to Simi Valley and the United Church of Christ for caring enough for their fellow man to do something important albeit not popular with everyone.

Of course we knew when we heard the good news about the church giving safe haven to Liliana and her 6-month-old baby Pablo there would be outrage and disgust among some community members, but by golly those good United Church of Christ people did the moral, decent and honorable thing in spite of it.

To the honorable mayor of Simi I would say this: There are far worse things to be known as then "a sanctuary city."

Why not give your $39,306 bill to the Save Our State folks to pay? They are the folks that caused the ruckus. My hat is off to the fine folks of Simi; you should be full of pride! Eileen O'Neill West Hills
