THEY BACKED THE BUS- Fran Harders and Sue Renyer, who have been friends for decades, were among 24 volunteers honored with the Mary Frisbey Distinguished Friends Award at the Ventura County Library in Simi Valley on Sunday afternoon. The duo worked on making the monthly Brown Bag Bus Trips program a reality at the library, and turned it into a program that thrived for years, with an average of 40 participants per month. The program, which is no longer in operation, charged participants a small fee to bring a bag lunch, board a bus, and travel to arts festivals, beaches, libraries, and other locations and events. The Frisbey awards honor volunteers who have shown extraordinary dedication to the library and its programs.
