Local lecturer will focus on substance abuse trauma

The Simi Nar-Anon Family Group will host guest speaker Kristy Schadt at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29 in room 10, Simi Valley United Methodist Church, 2394 Erringer Road.

Schadt will discuss the traumas experienced by family members of a substance abuser. She will help attendees understand how trauma affects people emotionally, how to recognize the impact of trauma and how to recover from trauma.

Schadt has been a practicing marriage and family therapist in private practice for 12 years and is the director of counseling for the Free Clinic of Simi Valley.

Nar-Anon is a support group for families and friends of drug addicts.

The meeting is free, and no reservations are needed.
