Police radar trailer vandalized

A radar trailer belonging to the Simi Valley Police Department's Traffic Unit was vandalized sometime between Sept. 5 and 7 while parked in the 6200 block of Nelda Street in Simi Valley. The damage was discovered at 7:57 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7.

Significant damage has occurred, enough to render the trailer inoperative.

No suspects are in custody at this time.

Anyone with information about this crime is encouraged to call the department at (805) 583-6950.

The police department owns two radar trailers which are commonly placed in areas of high traffic, such as major thoroughfares and school zones. These trailers can read the speed of approaching vehicles and then display a message, either thanking the motorist for traveling at a safe speed or warning them to slow down.
