Public should encourage the governor to pass Rocketdyne bill Please do this and ask everyone in your offices and address book to do the same. Finally, after many, many years, a bipartisan effort in the state Legislature has passed the most stringent cleanup requirement for the Santa Susana Field Laboratory Site. This site was formerly used by Rocketdyne, and they dumped experimental fuels into the ground and atmosphere. One can only guess how contaminated the water table is. However, Boeing Co. wants to sell the property to developers who will dig up the contamination as they build houses and condos. This will release dangerous toxins. A group of citizens and the Legislature have worked diligently to pass legislation that will require Boeing to follow the most extreme measures and be monitored by U.S. Environmental Agencies. It was passed last week, and it now goes to the governor's office for his signature. Boeing is putting great pressure on our governor not to sign the bill. We must urge him to sign it. This is for our future and that of generations to come. Lois Mitchell Simi Valley |
