Boy Scouts offering autumn outdoor activities
Venture Crew 9642, a program of the Boy Scouts of America, will host the following fall activities.
Families with young adults are welcome to any of these events.
•A beach barbecue and bonfire social is scheduled for 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29 at Point Mugu/ Thornhill Broome Beach. Activities include beach volleyball, ninja tag, water tug-o'-war, Glostick capture and socializing with members from Westlake Village, Simi Valley, Moorpark and Ventura.
•Members may participate in a mountain bike ride on the Lang Ranch trail in Thousand Oaks on Saturday, Oct. 13. Meet at the trail head on Lang Ranch Parkway at 3 p.m. Bring a bike, helmet, water and trail snacks. Dinner at a local restaurant will follow the bike ride.
•Venture Crew will go camping and rock climbing at Joshua Tree National Park, Indian Cove Campground from Nov. 9 through 12. The climbing instructors will set up routes for all skill levels, from beginner to experienced.
Venture Crew 9642 is sponsored by the Simi Valley Elk's Lodge. Members live in Moorpark, Simi Valley and surrounding communities.
Venture Crew is an organization for young men and women ages 14 to 20. The program uses outdoor adventure such as camping, backpacking, sailing, horseback riding, rock climbing and service projects to build character, bond with peers and learn leadership skills.
