Beer-swigging suspect put on ice by Simi PD A dangerous vehicle pursuit on Simi streets ended Wednesday night with the arrest of a parolee at large who had previously been convicted of assault on a police officer with a deadly weapon. Roger Macedonio, 38, of Los Angeles was arrested by Simi Valley police after he reportedly led officers up and down Los Angeles Avenue in a chase that began around 9 p.m. near the intersection of Tapo Canyon Road and Royal Avenue when Macedonio refused to pull over for a squad car responding to reports of reckless driving. According to Simi police, Macedonio taunted officers during the pursuit, making obscene hand gestures and drinking from a 40ounce bottle of beer. After a first "PIT" maneuver failed, a second attempt to disable Macedonio's vehicle succeeded in the area of Los Angeles and Ralston avenues. When Macedonio refused to exit his vehicle, police were forced to gain entry themselves, whereupon they used a Taser to subdue the suspect, the police report states. Macedonio was injured slightly as a result of the arrest. He was treated and released from Simi Valley Hospital and booked at Ventura County Jail on suspicion of felony evading, resisting arrest and possession of narcotics paraphernalia. |
