Lutheran church promotes ministries on Sunday

Ascension Lutheran Church will host its annual "Celebration of Ministry" between worship services Sunday, Sept. 9 in Pederson Hall, 1600 E. Hillcrest Drive, Thousand Oaks. Event times are 9 to 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 to 11 a.m.

The theme is "Blessed to be a Blessing." The public is invited to this festival of ministries, which features decorated booths that illustrate various church ministries in serving the needy, spreading God's word, educating children, making music and worshipping God.

Refreshments will be served.

Habitat for Humanity, Lutheran Social Services and the Ventura County Blood Bank will also have tables featuring information and opportunities for service.

During the event, children can sign up for Sunday School and children's choirs.

Ascension Lutheran School, which serves children from infancy through eighth grade, will also be represented.
