Places of faith
Glory House 2120 Winifred St. Simi Valley (805) 526-3215 Rev. Antonio Vivirito Founded: 1981 Size of congregation: 80 Denomination: Pentecostal Services: Sunday, 10 a.m., 6:30 p.m.; Friday, 7:30 p.m. Foundation of beliefs: We believe that Jesus died for (us). We believe Jesus rose from the dead for (us). Be saved and follow Jesus. Jesus gave his life for (us). He said he was going to come back in three days and He kept his promise. Fun fact: Vivirito, who's been the minister at Glory House since 1953, said he never turns away anyone who comes to the church seeking food. Questions of faith (answered by the Rev. Vivirito): What is the purpose of life? The purpose of life is to follow Jesus. What must humankind do to get into heaven? Repent and be baptized and you're on your way to heaven. What is your belief in heaven or hell? We believe in heaven and hell. It says in the scriptures the day will come when we will rise again. What is the role of the church in the community? We help with food for poor people and donations to the Los Angeles Mission and help feed the children. What is the church's view on gay rights and abortion? We don't support abortion. If you make a mistake, you keep the baby. We don't support the gay lifestyle, but we support and love the people. Women's role in the church? Women are pastors. My wife, Jane, was a pastor before me. What is your view on ecology issues? We support and help all God's creations. |
