For more information or to sign up, call the phone number listed for the event. •Redonna Carpenter, chair of the Wellness Community Valley/ Ventura's 16th annual Holiday Homes Tour, seeks volunteers to serve on organizing committees for the tour, which takes place Dec. 1 and 2.
Volunteers are invited to serve on the entertainment, logistics, house management, finance, boutique, raffle and/or marketing committees.
Proceeds from the event will help fund free programs of support and education for people fighting cancer and for their families.
To volunteer, call Marilyn Way at (805) 379-4777. •Topanga Canyon Docents are seeking volunteers interested in learning about the natural history of the Santa Monica Mountains and sharing this knowledge by leading midweek interpretive walks for schoolchildren and weekend family walks within the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Areas.
On special Sundays the docents also host visitors at the nature center in Topanga State Park in Topanga Canyon.
Fall training classes will begin 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 15 and continue through Dec. 1. The allday classes will be taught by local experts and cover geology, biology, botany, American Indians and interpretive techniques.
The $50 cost includes docent membership, written materials and handouts.
To sign up, call Beverly Weil at (818) 7581964. •Hospice of the Conejo announces a new volunteer training program starting in September in the board room at Los Robles Hospital and Medical Center.
The dates are Thursdays, Sept. 13, 20, 27, Oct. 4, 11 and 18 from 7 to 10 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 27 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The cost is a $25 materials fee.
Hospice volunteers provide comfort and dignity to those with a lifethreatening illness and ongoing support to loved ones.
Volunteers also provide companionship and support for the bereaved and for the infirm and homebound.
The service area includes Westlake Village, Thousand Oaks, Newbury Park, Agoura, Moorpark, Simi Valley, Oak Park and Calabasas.
