Dance society will explore the moves of the Renaissance

The Santa Barbara Country Dance Society will present a country dance of the English variety from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 16 at the Gold Coast Fencing Center, 2300 Knoll Drive, No. L, Ventura.

"We'll learn simple patterns from centuries past to gorgeous Baroque and Renaissance tunes. The movement, the music and your fellow dancers will carry you to a simpler time," said Gary Shapiro, the Santa Barbara-based dance leader who will teach the dances.

Admission is $5 for adults, $4 for students to age 24 and $1 for children ages 7 to 11.

The event is in addition to the society's regular second Monday dance in Ventura, fourth Monday dance in Ojai and other dances held throughout Southern California.
