Pirate festival coming to Lake Casitas
Keep a weather eye out for buccaneers

The 16th annual Gold Coast Pirate Faire will take place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. the weekends of Sept. 22 to 23 and 29 to 30 at Lake Casitas Recreation Area in Ojai.

Actors dressed as the original pillagers of the high seas will recreate a Pirate Village from the 15th to 17th centuries. Battle reenactments and demonstrations will occur throughout both days.

The fall 2007 Gold Coast Pirate Faire will feature three stages of continuous entertainment with ongoing presentations and plays.

The event will include an outdoor market offering visitors handcrafted items as well as period clothing, armament, jewelry, pirate booty and a selection of oneofakind plunder from captured ships.

A full food court will be available with themed food for purchase. Kids' activities include treasure hunts, costume contests and a pirate play area. The "Pirates Tavern" will serve ales, wine and adult beverages.

Admission is $15 for adults, $12 for seniors 62 and older, $7 for children under 12 and free for children under 5; parking is $5. Admission includes all entertainment and lake admission.

Lake Casitas Recreation Area is in the Ojai Valley 12 miles inland from the city of Ventura, near the junction of Highways 33 and 150.

The event is sponsored by the Visions in Time Foundation and Gold Coast Festivals.
