Freedom Walk set for Sept. 11

The Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and MilitaryConnection.com will host the second annual Simi Valley Freedom Walk at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11 in the library courtyard at 40 Presidential Drive, Simi Valley.

The goal of the walk is to honor the troops and veterans, as well as remember the victims on the sixth anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, tragedy.

A short program prior to the walk will include Capt. Terry Kraft, commanding officer of the USS Ronald Reagan, and Deena Burnett Baily, whose husband, Tom Burnett, was the ringleader of the group that fought back against the terrorists on United Flight 93 on Sept. 11.

The 1.8mile route will begin in the courtyard and conclude at Rancho Madera Community Park off Wood Ranch Parkway.

A free shuttle service will return participants to their cars at the library.

For information, call (805) 522-2977. To register to walk, go to www.militaryconnection.com.
