Library to honor its volunteers
VC Star's departing publisher will be guest speaker

The Simi Valley Friends of the Library will honor 24 volunteers with the Mary Frisbey Distinguished Friends Award at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 9 in the Simi Valley Library's Community Room, 2969 Tapo Canyon Road.

Following the ceremony, Tim Gallagher, who's leaving his post as publisher and president of the Ventura County Star, will discuss "My 14 Favorite Books and a Few More."

The program is free and open to the public.

This award, established in 2001, recognizes extraordinary service to the library. The names of the honorees are on a plaque displayed in the library.

The honorees are Ann Ball, Ron Ball, Christine Bliss, Michael Bliss, Sheena Bliss, Olive Busler, Ruth Coates, Bruce Crytser, Erna Cummings, Dottie Doctor, Betty Gainey, Ada Hautzenroeder, Fran Harders, Mickie Lefferts, Alexis O'Neill, Diane Quinn, Sue Renyer, Renee Romanowski, Pat Roth, Betty Smith, Gary Smoot, Catherine Talbert, Lawrence Talbert and Rita Weston.
