YMCA Adventure Guides schedule information nights Parents with children in kindergarten through third grade are invited to learn about the Simi Valley Family YMCA Adventure Guides (formerly Indian Guides) by attending one of two information nights at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, Sept. 19 and 20 at the Simi Valley Family YMCA, 3200 Cochran St. Children are encouraged to attend. Y-Adventure Guides strive to build strong relationships between parent and child. Separate programs are offered for fathers and sons, fathers and daughters, mothers and sons, and mothers and daughters. The focus is enhancing the role of parents as guides in their child's life. Parents and children take part in activities that include camping, fishing, hiking, kite flying, picnics, bowling and festivals. "YAdventure Guides is different from sports leagues and other youth programs. It's all about building strong parentchild relationships while actively being involved in a group," said Lisa Tate, senior program director. "That bond developed during Adventure Guides can last a lifetime." Families will be able to sign up for Y-Adventure Guides at both information nights. For details, call the YMCA at (805) 5835338 or e-mail Tate at ltate@simiymca.org or visit www.simiguides.org. |
