Preliminary hearing postponed to October

The preliminary hearing in the murder trial of Simi Valley resident Daniel Ramirez has been rescheduled for Monday, Oct. 1 at 9 a.m. in Ventura County Superior Court.

Ramirez, 23, is facing two firstdegree murder charges related to the shooting deaths of Angel Luevano, on Dec. 5, 2003, and Luis Torres, on Jan. 26, 2007.

Ramirez and co-defendant Luis Casillas (in the Luevano case) are accused of committing the crimes for the benefit of a street gang.

Ramirez was arrested by Simi Valley Police on Saturday, March 17 during a traffic stop on the eastbound 118 Freeway.
