Put off by poor pooch parenting

The trouble with dogs are their owners.

I walk my dog to the park at Simi Hills Golf Course every now and then, and on my way there my dog and I encounter numerous dog droppings on the horse trail and even on the cement and in the bushes, which I'm sure the gardeners just love.

It's disgusting. I could probably fill a kitchen trash bag with the droppings we have to dodge on our walks.

I'd hate to be a runner or jogger having to make sure not to step in any of it. I pick up after my dog's huge droppings and most of the ones we encounter are a lot smaller.

It's not the dog's fault when they have to go.

The other trouble with owners is that some think that their dogs don't need to be on leashes at the park. Isn't there a law that states they should be?

My large dog has been run up on numerous times by dogs whose owners think that they will come back when called. Well, they don't.

I have to hold my large dog back so that there won't be any vet bills while I yell at the owners to call their dogs who are just enjoying themselves and don't care to respond. It's not a fun feeling.

So I say create a bunch of dog parks so that the owners who don't pick up after their dogs can let them leave their droppings at their own park and the owners who don't think their dogs need leashes can let their dogs run with others who don't need leashes, and let the dropping picker-uppers and leash-wearing dogs enjoy their walks to the park.

Maybe some of the dog park land could be extended and be made into a skate park so that the skateboarders can enjoy their time at their own park too. Melody George Simi Valley
