Simi quilter named finalist in nationwide contest

S. Anne Sidell of Simi Valley was named as a finalist in the Miniature category in the International Quilt Association's annual judged show, "Quilts: A World of Beauty."

Competition winners will be announced on Tuesday, Oct. 30 during the Winners Circle Celebration prior to the International Quilt Festival, an annual quiltmaking show, sale and academy.

The contest will award nearly $94,000 in cash and prizes to winners in 25 categories. The panel of jurors includes noted quilt artists, authors and teachers.

The festival will run Nov. 1 to 4 in the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston, Texas. The winning quilts will be on display to the public during this time.

The International Quilt Association, founded in 1979, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the preservation of the art of quilting, attaining public recognition for quilting as an art form and advancing the art throughout the world.
