Simi artist featured in quilt show

A quilt show titled "Heroes in our World" will take place from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sat., Sept. 8 and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sun., Sept. 9 at the Airtel Plaza Hotel, 7277 Valjean Ave., Van Nuys.

Admission for one day is $7, both days $10. Parking costs $6.

The featured artist will be Sue Rasmussen of Simi Valley. Events include lectures, workshops, small quilt auction Sunday at 2 p.m., doll display, vendors and a Veteran's Quilt Project Sew-in.

The Veteran's Quilt Project provides quilts for wounded veterans returning from service in Iraq and Afghanistan. The sew-in consists of participants creating blocks for the quilts and will take place from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.
