Neighborhood Council to tour Waste Management facility

Waste Management will host the city of Simi Valley Neighborhood Council members for a firsthand look at the facility in action and for a discussion and tour of the planned landfill expansion.

The tours were first formalized with the neighborhood councils after the city of Simi Valley requested that Waste Management keep council members informed about the landfill expansion project.

"Waste Management has an opendoor policy, and we encourage community members to check out our facility. It's important to us that our neighbors understand our operations and our future plans," said Mike Smith, market area general manager for Waste Management.

Tours are currently scheduled for 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. today, Fri., Aug. 17, and 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. tomorrow, Sat., Aug. 18.

There is a limit of 20 people per tour, but more tours can be added. Members of the public are encouraged to join these tours or schedule tours that work better with their own schedules.
