Classic rock festival returns

The Ojai Classic Rock Festival will return for its fifth engagement from noon to 10 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 18 at Libbey Bowl in downtown Ojai. Gates will open at 11 a.m.

The event features classic rock tribute bands, including Pink Floyd (with a video/laser show), Led Zeppelin, The Grateful Dead, Jimi Hendrix, Allman Brothers and Janis Joplin.

Advance priced tickets are available now for $22.50 at Salzer's Records in Ventura, Attitude Adjustment Shop in Ojai, Infusion in Simi Valley, online at www.howardpresents.com and at all Ticketmaster locations.

Tickets purchased on the day of the show will cost $25.

A record-trading zone, "Vinyl Village," will be set up for the buying, selling and trading of vinyl records, rock 'n' roll memorabilia, food, snacks, crafts, tiedyed clothing and other merchandise. There will also be a DJ competition.

Concert promoter Howard Freiberg is presenting the festival to benefit Vinyl Record Day. Founded in 2002, Vinyl Record Day is a nonprofit organization dedicated to recognizing the day 130 years ago when Thomas Edison invented the phonograph.
