Neighborhood councils are seeking new board members

The city of Simi Valley is accepting applications for Neighborhood Council Executive Board members. Vacancies exist on each of the four boards.

Applicants must be at least 18 years old and residents of Simi Valley.

The City Council will appoint candidates to serve in an advisory capacity for two-year terms from Nov. 1, 2007 to Oct. 31, 2009.

The councils meet on a monthly basis to review development projects and various issues of community concern and advise the City Council of their findings.

Typical items reviewed include local property development, traffic, public safety and community issues.

The neighborhood councils are also involved with community volunteer events such as the Arroyo Simi cleanup and Coastal Cleanup Day.

The deadline to submit applications is 5:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 31.

For more information and an application form, call Laura Magness, coordinator, at (805) 583-6756.
