Services to be held for fallen officer
Simi resident killed in wreck on 101 Freeway

LAPD Detective George Selleh
Funeral services for Detective George "Mike" Selleh will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at the Church at Rocky Peak, 22601 Santa Susana Pass Road.

Selleh, a 52yearold Los Angeles Police Department detective from Simi Valley, died in a motorcycle crash early Sunday on the 101 Freeway.

A 29-year veteran of the LAPD, Selleh was most recently the officer in charge of the Mission Station narcotics squad. At the time of the crash, he was on his way to another job where he was providing security for a movie set.

"There's never a good time, but this was a really difficult way to lose someone," said Sgt. Joe Priebe of the LAPD, a longtime friend of Selleh's.

According to California Highway Patrol reports, just before 3:30 a.m. on July 29, Selleh came upon a 1991 Toyota Corolla that had crashed into the center divider of the southbound side of the 101 near Highland and was blocking the two left lanes. Selleh was unable to avoid the collision and was thrown from his motorcycle upon impact. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to a statement delivered by the LAPD, at least 11 additional vehicles were involved in the crash. The freeway was closed for more than 12 hours Sunday as CHP officers investigated the collision.

Selleh is survived by his wife, a 20-year-old son, an 18-year-old daughter and two sisters.
