Resident's comments on bilingual issue were dead-on

I would like to thank Joy Lomenick of Simi for telling it like it is. I agree with her wholeheartedly.

Next there will be bilingual teachers wanted, as the children are spoken to in their native tongue in their homes and do not learn English before they enter school.

When I came to this country I was told if the quota for America was filled that year, then I could not come until the next time. It was also requested that I visit my doctor and get a note saying that I did not have any contagious diseases.

I was also asked to sign a document stating that I would not be a burden on the American people. My husband-to-be also had to report to the doctor, had to get a letter from his boss stating that he had a job and that he was earning enough to sponsor me. He also had to have a letter from the tax man stating that his taxes were paid and that he was paying into the system.

I wonder where all that went to- now the illegal immigrants are sponsored by no one, are a burden on the American people, get welfare, have not paid taxes and have never paid into the system. I would also like to see their doctors' notes!

Go to it, Joy. Keep up the good work. I am with you all the way. Betty Ahuna Simi Valley
