The Veterans for Peace sponsored a display of the boots of soldiers who have
been killed in action on
Cabrillo Street in Santa
Barbara as part of their July
Fourth activities. Marine Lance Cpl. Juan C. Venegas,
21, of Simi Valley died on April 7, 2005, as a result of a
vehicle accident while
conducting combat
operations in Al Anbar
Province, Iraq. He was assigned to 3rd Battalion,
4th Marine Regiment, 1st
Marine Division, I Marine
Expeditionary Force, Twentynine Palms, Calif.
During Operation Iraqi
Freedom, Venegas was
attached to Regimental Combat Team 8, 2nd Marine
Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force.
