What can residents do to prepare for this year's fire season?
• Keep weeds trimmed down. Vegetation grows back, so make sure to stay on top of it. • Keep roofs, gutters and treetops free from lint and other debris. • Move combustible items away from the house. If you stack firewood near your house, move it to an area where it won't cause problems in case there's ever a fire. • Have a hose line or a fire extinguisher ready near your backyard. • Have a plan. If there's a fire and your neighborhood is evacuated, make sure the whole family knows where to meet.
