Scouts hosting garage sales

Zack McCoy and Domenic Hartlove, Boy Scouts from Troop 605 from St. Rose of Lima in Simi Valley, have planned two garage sales from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, July 7 and 14 at 2251 Copley St., Simi Valley.

The sales are Eagle rank fundraisers to purchase supplies for two renovation projects at Emmanuel Presbyterian Church, the church the Scouts attend in Thousand Oaks.

Their plans include repainting the basketball backboard, replacing the net, repainting the basketball half court, installing two benches for the patio, stripping and repainting the parking lot light poles and renovating the parking lot by repainting the parking space lines, the speed bumps, and the entrance and exit signs.

The Scouts plan to supervise others to complete this work. The tentative work schedule is July 21 and 28. Donations for the garage sales are tax-deductible, as are any cash donations.

Hartlove is also asking if someone could donate the use of a cherry picker on July 20 and 21 so men from the church can paint the upper portion of the light posts.
