Frankie Villa, the son of Alice and Frank Villa, won Apollo High's Ventura County Scholar award and was named the school's "Outstanding Art Student" for 2006-2007.

While at Apollo, Frankie was involved in the Interact Club and said he tried to lead his peers in a positive direction. After graduation, the senior plans on attending Moorpark College before hopefully transferring to Cal State Northridge to major in both art and music. "I am confident and eager to establish myself in the art scene as well as the music industry," said the 18-year-old.

Amanda Mazias, the daughter of Curtis and Tammy Mazias, brought her GPA from a 1.0 to a 3.8 during her time at Apollo High.

A tomboy of sorts, Amanda, 18, wrestled for Apollo for three years and also took classes at Kid Gloves Boxing in Simi Valley. Mazias took time out from her busy sports and study schedule to volunteer at the local Boys & Girls Club. The senior said her biggest role model is her late mother, Lindy, who died in 2004.

"She is and always will be my biggest influence. I believe everything I am, I am because of her," Amanda said.

Jacob Jenson Francesca Haker

Jacob Jenson, the son of Jeff Jenson, was recognized by Apollo High for both his achievements in the classroom and on the basketball court. After graduation, the 19yearold said he plans on going to a trade school and taking a course to become a "CNC machinist."

Jacob said his favorite class at Apollo was earth science. He said the biggest influence in his life up to this point has been his high school counselor, Maria Sprowl. "She really pushed me the last year and gave me the confidence to graduate from high school," Jacob said.

Francesca Haker, the daughter of Sherri Haker, won several awards for academic achievements and outstanding citizenship during her time at Apollo, in addition to being selected the leader of her government class.

The 18-year-old is interested in studying nutrition, health, law or abnormal psychology while in college.

Francesca's two favorite subjects while in high school were woodshop and, "believe it or not," math. She said she plans on being a successful businesswoman who owns her own company.

Andrew Garcia

Andrew Garcia, the son of Debbie and Danny Garcia, was president of the school's Interact Club and participated in many school leadership activities while at Apollo.

Andrew, 19, in addition to volunteering at such events as the MS Walka-Thon and the Cajun Creole Festival, organized a fundraiser to support the children of Afghanistan while in high school. The senior said his plans after graduation are to attend Moorpark College before transferring to UCLA to major in international business.

Andrew's favorite teacher at Apollo was Kateria Mattila.
