Orient Express nets B&G Club $170,000

The Boys & Girls Club of Simi Valley has announced that the 29th annual auction, "An Adventure on the Orient Express," raised more than $170,000 in support of club programs that benefit the needy in the community.

The clubhouse was decorated by dozens of volunteers to create another world reminiscent of Chinatown.

More than 325 guests bid on hundreds of items, including whitewater rafting trips, diamond jewelry, motorcycles and a Yorkie puppy. Reagan Library caterer Kirk Memoli of Command Performance Catering provided a gourmet meal for attendees before the live auction began. Deb Holler and Bob Huber served as auction chairs.
