Senior rent subsidy program offered

Up to two years of rental subsidies are available for up to 41 low-income senior households residing within Simi Valley.

The Area Housing Authority of the County of Ventura is accepting applications for the Simi Valley Senior Rent Subsidy Programs.

Seniors assisted under the program will be responsible for paying only a portion of their actual monthly income towards rent with the city paying for the remainder as established by the Area Housing Authority.

At least one member of the household must be at least 62 years or older and the total household income may not exceed 60 percent of the area median income, based on household size.

Although there is no set deadline for submitting applications, the opportunity will be closed once a sufficient number of applications have been received for establishing a reasonable waiting list.

Those submitting the earliest applications will be assisted first.

Applications are available at Simi Valley City Hall, 2929 Tapo Canyon Road; the planning/building and safety counter at the Development Services Building, 3855-A Alamo St., Simi Valley Library, 2960 Tapo Canyon Road; the Simi Valley Senior Center, 3900 Avenida Simi, the Area Housing Authority office at 1400 W. Hillcrest Drive, Newbury Park.

Forms may also be downloaded at www.ahacv.org.
