Simi Education Foundation awards scholarships

The Simi Valley Education Foundation awarded three $1,000, twoyear scholarships for Moorpark College to seniors from Simi Valley Unified School District.

The recipients are Roberto Campos and Maribel Gallegos of Royal High School, and Lacie Robison of Simi Valley High School.

The scholarships are awarded to students who demonstrate a desire to succeed by obtaining a college education.

The awards are intended to offer an opportunity or create a turning point in a young person's life that inspires them to become an asset to the community.

The foundation also granted $1,000 scholarships for college, technical or vocational schools to one student from each of the four local high schools and one from Moorpark College.

This year's winners are Jorge Olague of Apollo High School, Kenzan Boo of Royal High School, Nicolas Lazzarini of Santa Susana High School, Kaitlynn Hamilton of Simi Valley High School and Hsiangchin Yen of Moorpark College.

The Simi Valley Education Foundation, led by a volunteer board of directors, is supported by contributions from residents and area businesses.
