Oktoberfest seeking local talent

Local talent will get the opportunity to perform on stage at Oktoberfest, Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 29 and 30 at Underwood Family Farms in Moorpark.

The annual event is presented by the Rotary Club of Newbury Park and Farmers Insurance Group.

The "Showcase Stage" will be available to local dance troupes, singing groups, musicians and other performers. Each act will have the stage for 45 minutes.

Between 12 and 15 family oriented acts will be selected to perform throughout the weekend. Times will be assigned. The stage is available to performers throughout the Conejo Valley, Moorpark, Simi Valley and west through Ventura. School bands, choirs and private music and dance companies are encouraged to apply.

The deadline for entries is Thursday, June 14.

Organizers are expecting more than 10,000 people to attend this year's Oktoberfest. Proceeds go to help Rotarian nonprofit projects.
