Police were doing their job I am more dismayed by the letter of Barbara Geach regarding her being disturbed over the Tasing and death of a man committing criminal acts. Reckless driving (called in by several independent sources), endangering the lives of innocent citizens and police officers, refusing to comply with officers' warnings, lights and sirens, and being combative and aggressive. These criminal acts resulted in a pursuit concluding with a crash into another innocent victim's home. Her sympathies extend to Mr. Garcia with no consideration or thought given to the people who were or could have been innocently affected by his callous acts. This disturbing mindset, failing to put the blame where it lies with the perpetrator, sadly is becoming more common in our society. Are we becoming so weak that we can no longer determine right from wrong? Can we stand up and voice our opinion for what is good and condemn what is evil? I believe we would have read a letter of a different perspective had one of Ms. Geach's family members been injured in the above mentioned incident. I am thankful that a child was not injured in the home where the car crashed through its wall.Raymond Garcia paid a sad price for his reckless, careless acts, but he chose the path he took and the responsibility lies with him. We need to support our police. They are up against drug-using, gangbanging criminals while under a microscope with their hands tied. They put their lives on the line trying to protect us and to preserve the quality of our lives.
They should be praised, not criticized. |
