New recruits graduate from basic training

Army Pvt. Matthew R. Shuman has graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga.

He is the grandson of Norm and Judy Shuman of Simi Valley.

Air Force Airman William S. Rowerdink has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas, and earned credits toward an associate degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

He is the son of William Rowerdink of Simi Valley and a 1999 graduate of Simi Valley High School.
