Summer reading programs for kids offered at county libraries

Youth can get ready for a summer of reading fun at their local library by signing up for the Ventura County Library 2007 Summer Reading Programs- Get a Clue @ Your Library for children through middle school and YNK: You Never Know for students in middle school and above.

These free library programs run from June 10 to Aug. 19 and encourage children of all ages to enhance their reading skills during summer vacation. They have the opportunity to read books and earn prizes.

Teens are encouraged to check with their local libraries for summer volunteer opportunities.

Following is the 2007 Summer Reading Program Kickoff schedule:

Simi Valley Library, 2960 Tapo Canyon Road, 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., Monday, June 18.

Camarillo Library, 4101 Las Posas Road, 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., Wednesday, June 20.

Oak Park Library, 899 N. Kanan Road, 3 p.m., Tuesday, June 26.
