Bar fight leads to arrest

A Simi Valley man was arrested last Friday for beating up and badly injuring a man during a late-night bar fight.

Officers responded to a call at 3 a.m. from the Golden Nugget Bar, 4436 Cochran Ave.

According to a police report, several people were inside the bar drinking when Lonney Hansen, 44, apparently got upset about his girlfriend's behavior.

He allegedly got into an argument with some of the patrons. Police say one of his friends, Glenn Alan Smith, 43, also of Simi Valley, attempted to calm Hansen down.

Hansen allegedly punched Smith in the face when he wasn't looking, according to witnesses, causing Smith to fall to the ground, striking his head.

Hansen then attempted to leave, but patrons/witnesses blocked his motorcycle with at least one car.

Smith was still unconscious when officers arrived.

He had a 4-inch laceration to the left side of his face, possibly caused by a ring on Hansen's right pinky finger. Smith was transported by an ambulance to Simi Valley Hospital and was admitted to intensive care due to his worsening condition.

He had suffered a laceration to the face and a skull fracture. At press time, Smith's condition was listed as stable.

Hansen was arrested and charged with battery with great bodily injury and was booked without incident. He was released from jail Saturday, May 26 on a bail bond. He is set to appear in court on June 4.
