Happy Mother's Day 2007 Here is the final installment of our annual odes to moms. Apologies to all those whose entries who did not make it into the last two editions of the Simi Valley Acorn. Unlike most moms, we're not perfect. My mom is special because I love her. I really like when she comes to my baseball games. Joey Griggs, 6 Simi Valley My mom is special to me because she always drives me everywhere. Like if she is not feeling good, she still takes me to all my soccer practices, which, I might add, are all the way in Camarillo. You may say, "Hey, well, my mom would do that too." Then you go and ask your mom to drive you to Camarillo twice a week when you live all the way in Simi Valley. I don't think that just any mom would do that. Would your mom do that? That is why my mom is special to me. Savannah Banana (George-Moors) Simi Valley My mom- "Betty Boop." After God made my mom, he definitely broke the mold. She is a retired nurse. She worked a lot in homes for patients that require special care. While there, she had a never-ending supply of sunshine, laughs and love for them. Wherever she goes, whoever she meets, she shares her sense of humor or lends an ear or whatever seems fitting. Most people enjoy her and seldom forget her. My mom also loves the Lord. A lot of goodness I have I believe came from her. Have a joyful day, mom! Sallie Bausch Simi Valley My mom is special because she's smart. She's funny. She's intelligent. She loves us. She buys us stuff. She makes me pretty. She makes us happy. Megan Lutton, 7 Simi Valley My mom is special because she buys me things, takes me places, lets my friends spend the night almost every weekend, tucks me in at night, lets me play outside with my friends, lets me walk to Big Z, the doughnut store, the gas station and Subway. But she is most special because she loves me! Chris Lutton, 10 Simi Valley My mom's a giver. Her generous heart is ever ready to give whatever she has to the less fortunate. She gives her time, her money, her skills, her compassion, her inspiration to strangers and loved ones. She is a loyal wife, an abiding mother and a dedicated friend. All this goodness stems from her deep faith in her Lord. That utter dependence on His love and understanding has allowed her to reveal Him to others every day of her life. With respect for each person's individuality, she has cheerfully sacrificed so much and relished the joy of living. Bravo, mom! Maureen Brown Simi Valley |
