Dump for free this Sunday at the landfill

Residents of Simi Valley may dispose of residential rubbish for free from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, May 20 at the Simi Valley Landfill and Recycling Center, 2801 Madera Road.

Appliances, clean concrete and asphalt, clean wood and green waste will be accepted for recycling. Residents are asked to separate recyclable materials from rubbish.

All loads must be covered to prevent spilling.

Proof of Simi Valley residency is required. Participants must unload their own vehicles.

The landfill will not accept commercial waste, hazardous waste, liquids, tires, TVs, household batteries, computer monitors, electronic waste, thermometers and other products containing mercury, and fluorescent light tubes or bulbs.

Any resident planning to bring waste to the event in a commercial vehicle should call (805) 579-7267 to avoid paying commercial dump fees.
