Royal High will host Junior Olympics
Contest will involve 1,200 kids in grades four to six

The Simi Valley Unified School District and Simi Valley PTA/PTSA Council will cosponsor the annual Junior Olympics from 8:45 a.m. through about 3 p.m. Saturday, May 19 at Royal High School, 1402 Royal Ave., Simi Valley.

This event involves approximately 1,200 students from grades four through six at all 21 Simi Valley elementary schools.

The annual Torch Run will kick off the event on Friday, May 18, beginning at Wood Ranch Elementary School and ending at Katherine Elementary.

The runners, consisting of two student runners and one adult volunteer from each school, will be served lunch in the park after the run.

Saturday's Junior Olympics includes softball throw, basketsper-minute, tri-fitness, various track events and a volleyball tournament in the gym.
