Signups open for Sheriff's Foundation golf fundraiser The Ventura County Sheriff's Foundation will host the 2007 annual Golf Classic on Monday, June 18 at the Sherwood Country Club in Thousand Oaks. The tournament is the foundation's major fundraiser for the year. All proceeds will be used to purchase departmental equipment not covered in the county budget. The tourney format for the tournament is the shamble: best drive, golfers play their own ball and keep the two low scores. The event will begin at 9 a.m. with a complementary bag drop and checkin, continental breakfast and putting contest. Golf begins at 11 a.m. with a shotgun start. Lunch will be served at the Sherwood Grill. Players may compete in the hole-in-one, closest to the pin, longest and straightest drives contests and more. A silent auction begins at 4:30 p.m., followed by dinner at 5:30 p.m. in the Sherwood Club House, with awards and a live auction at 6:15 p.m. The 2007 annual Golf Classic is managed and produced by community leaders who voluntarily serve with the Ventura County Sheriff's Foundation. For more information about the event, call Carl B. Alaniz at (805) 371-9800 or Bruce de la Cuadra at (805) 582-6100 or visit w.VCSheriffsFoundation.com. |
